These days present quite a challenge to what we know and care about.  The anxiety from the onslaught of change is almost overwhelming at times.  We thought hugging was a nurturing not a dangerous act and believed the air, water and food supply was relatively safe.  No one can believe we are front and center at the most dramatic cultural and environmental changes maybe in our lifetime.  

Change is what we do best at Tidewater Psychotherapy Services (TPS).  

We have been a safe and reliable outpatient treatment facility for over 36 years in the Tidewater area.   Yes, we have seen a dramatic increase in folks accessing behavioral healthcare during this time and gratified that we are trusted to handle a myriad of life upheavals.  

If you have reverted to old ways of coping and wish to become more resilient, the internet is full of good advice:

  • Get a good night’s sleep.
  • Eat food that nourishes and strengthens you.
  • Take a walk.
  • Read a book or listen to music.
  • Take time to connect with family and friends.
  • Do whatever you can to improve your resiliency during these times.

When you need more than good advice, and you are spiraling in the wrong direction, asking for help from a professional will make all the difference.  If you have been taking psychiatric medications, this is not the time to quit.  If you are losing the battle against addictive disorders, you know its time to get help.

We have state of the art telehealth equipment and you can see a mental health provider from your most comfortable place by way of your smartphone, tablet or personal computer.  Insurance regulations have changed so meeting with a provider by phone no longer is considered a breach of privacy issue.
